A Merry Little Meet Cute

by Sierra Simone

2022

Plus-size adult film star Bee Hobbes is secretly cast as the lead in a wholesome holiday movie and vows to keep her past under wraps. Series background & context

Christmas Notch is Julie Murphy and Sierra Simone’s answer to the classic small-town holiday romance. Imagine the snow-globe aesthetic of a cable Christmas movie, then add adult film stars, ex boy-band members, bodyguards, and a lot more sex than you could ever air on daytime TV. That is Christmas Notch, Vermont - a town that has built its entire identity around festive cheer and now finds itself hosting some very nontraditional productions.

The series begins with A Merry Little Meet Cute, where Bee Hobbes, a successful plus-size adult film performer, is cast as the lead in a squeaky-clean holiday movie for the Hope Channel. She has to hide her Bianca Von Honey persona, keep her parents from worrying, and figure out what to do about the fact that her co-star is Nolan Shaw, the fallen pop star she has loved from afar since her teens. Nolan recognizes her from her subscription content, and the two fall into a secret, very explicit fling while pretending to be perfectly wholesome on set.

Shortly after, the authors expand the world with novellas like Snow Place Like LA and Seas and Greetings, which send familiar faces to new settings - Los Angeles in July, a cruise ship hosting a Twilight-inspired musical - while still tying back to Christmas Notch and the Hope Channel machine. Full-length follow-ups such as A Holly Jolly Ever After and A Jingle Bell Mingle give side characters their own central love stories, exploring tropes like friends to lovers, second chances, and grumpy/sunshine roommates, all with the same raunch-com energy.

What keeps the series cohesive is its emphasis on community. The town itself is a character: relentlessly festive, full of nosy neighbors, and surprisingly accepting once people’s secrets start coming out. Characters pop up across books as co-workers, family members, or fellow chaos gremlins, so each new installment feels like dropping back into a big, messy friend group.

This page lays out the recommended order, clarifies which entries are novellas versus full novels, and flags how everything connects so you can either read straight through or hop to the pairing that most appeals to you. If you want holiday romance that is sex-positive, fat-positive, queer-friendly, and very aware of the tropes it is playing with, Christmas Notch is where to move in for the season.
