Those extras are not required, but they add texture if you end up liking the wider cast.

The tone sits somewhere between paranormal romance, coming of age story, and high-stakes fantasy soap opera, in the best possible way. The series likes banter, longing, magic with rules, and feelings that are too big to stay tidy. It also gets heavier as it goes, both emotionally and in terms of danger. If you want a neat, low-drama magical school story, this is not that. If you want passion, family chaos, supernatural trouble, and a couple who keep choosing each other under pressure, Channie is built for exactly that reader.
