Author bio
Caroline Peckham is a fantasy and dark romance author from Kent, in southeast England, and books got to her early. She has talked about growing up on a steady stream of fantasy, with her father reading classics like The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings aloud. By the time she was old enough to tear through Harry Potter on her own, she was already writing stories and chasing the feeling that big, immersive fantasy can give you.
Books came first.
Her path into publishing was not especially tidy. She studied zoology at the University of Reading, which makes sense when you look at how often creatures, instincts, and survival systems show up in her fiction. After university she worked in the family business, wrote around everyday life, and slowly moved from loving stories to wanting to build a life around them.
That shift became real in 2015, when Peckham and her sister, Susanne Valenti, decided to take writing seriously and start publishing. They began with their own projects, then found that co-writing suited them. The partnership stuck, and it became the engine behind a huge run of fantasy romance, paranormal romance, and dark contemporary series.
The sister act stayed.
Peckham's early solo fantasy work includes The Rise of Isaac, a YA quest series built around seven worlds, magical trials, and a boy trying to save his sister from a lethal curse. She also wrote series like V Games and Forbidden Fairytales, which already showed some of the things readers now associate with her work: dangerous setups, fast momentum, romance under pressure, and heroines who do not stay quiet for long.
Then came the books that pushed her to a much wider audience. Zodiac Academy turned a savage magic-school premise into a sprawling romantasy series full of Fae politics, star-crossed bonds, and cliff-hangers that readers either adore or yell about, often both. Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac gives that same shared world a murder mystery and reverse harem angle, while Kings of Quarantine and The Harlequin Crew show how comfortably Peckham moves into darker contemporary territory.
A lot of her catalog works because it feels connected. Solaria links Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac, Zodiac Academy, Darkmore Penitentiary, and later Sins of the Zodiac. On the contemporary side, the United States of Anarchy books let characters, families, and old grudges echo across separate series. Even when the setting changes, the pattern is familiar: fierce women, morally rough love interests, high stakes, and stories that are not afraid of mess.
Official author bios now describe Peckham as writing full time with Valenti from a garden office in the UK, with wildlife just outside the window. The numbers around the books are big, with millions of copies sold, but the better guide is the reading experience itself. Open a Caroline Peckham book and you can usually expect sharp banter, strong feelings, ruthless pacing, and at least one moment where everyone makes a terrible decision for very understandable reasons.
