Series background & context

Can't Resist begins with a love triangle, but it is really a connected story about Abby Bartlett and the two Sullivan brothers who matter most to her. The first three books form one continuing romance and should be read in order. They are not separate standalones, because each installment changes Abby's understanding of herself, Connor, and Brian.

In Resisting the Bad Boy, Abby is a doctoral student who helps her longtime friend Brian Sullivan care for his young daughter, Skylar. Brian's brother Connor is a successful lawyer with a bad-boy reputation and a strict rule against relationships lasting longer than a month. Abby has spent years being dependable and careful. Connor offers her a chance to try something different, even though both know a short-term arrangement can get complicated fast.

Then the feelings become impossible to keep simple.

Falling for the Good Guy shifts attention to Brian, Abby's closest friend. Brian has been through the illness and death of his wife, and Abby has been beside him and Skylar through the hardest parts. After Connor leaves Abby heartbroken, Brian begins to wonder whether the steady friendship everyone sees between them might be something more.

That leaves Abby with a painful decision in Choosing the Right Man. The final part of the trilogy asks her to separate habit, guilt, loyalty, attraction, and genuine love. It is an emotional setup, especially because Connor and Brian are brothers who care deeply about one another. The story does not treat the choice as casual, and the books build their impact through the full arc.

Finding the Right Girl then gives Brian a standalone romance with Tessa. A single father who has lost love before, Brian thinks a simple fling is the safest option. Tessa claims to understand casual dating, but she has her own reasons to be wary of hope. Their story keeps the series' focus on caring for others, facing grief, and taking a chance on a future that seems risky.

Can't Resist is best for readers who want an emotional, sequential romance with friendship, family bonds, a child at the center of a close support system, and a love triangle that needs all three opening books to resolve.
