The series begins with Before We Fall.

The third book, Before You Go, brings in Francisca Dawson and Dayton Calloway. Francisca is rebuilding after divorce and not making room for a man. Dayton never planned on marriage or children. Then one unexpected consequence forces both of them to rethink what they are willing to risk.

The Before books are connected more by emotional territory than by one big external plot. The detective work, murder investigations, and ex drama create pressure, but the heart of the series is about what happens before people fully fall, before something ends, or before someone walks away.

These romances are a little older, messier, and more practical than some of Reynolds’s instant-family stories. Children matter. Past relationships matter. Bad choices have paperwork attached.
