Becomes Her Books in Order

The Becomes Her series is Shirlee Busbee in full Regency-romance mode: country houses, London gossip, reluctant proposals, blackmail, smugglers, and people who insist they know what they want until love makes a mess of the plan. The books are connected by tone and social world more than by one long plot, so each romance has its own central couple and conflict.

From there, Busbee moves through different corners of Regency England. In Surrender Becomes Her, Marcus Sherbrook and Isabel Dunham have a long, prickly history that turns dangerous when a blackmailer enters the picture. These are romances built on old assumptions, bruised pride, and the pleasure of watching two stubborn people admit they were wrong.

Later books add more adventure. Passion Becomes Her brings in Asher Cordell, a former thief trying to become respectable, and Juliana Greeley, who needs help against a blackmailer. Rapture Becomes Her shifts toward the coast, where Emily Townsend secretly leads smugglers to protect her village and family fortune, only to rescue Barnaby, the new Viscount Joslyn, from the sea. Desire Becomes Her follows Gillian Dashwood and Lucien Joslyn through murder, suspicion, gambling, and secrets that refuse to stay buried.

The mood is romantic and busy, with plenty of outside pressure. Busbee likes forced proximity, sudden marriages, inherited trouble, and heroines who are not as helpless as society expects them to be.

Read the books in publication order if you like watching small connections and family links unfold. If you only want one sample, Scandal Becomes Her is the cleanest starting point because it shows the series formula right away: scandal first, trust later, love after both characters have done some serious arguing.
