Series background & context
Avoiding is the series that introduced a lot of readers to K.A. Linde's taste for big emotion and bigger romantic messes. At the center is Lexi, pulled between Jack and Ramsey in a love triangle that is not interested in being tidy, polite, or easy to agree on. These books are built to provoke reactions.
If you want neat, healthy communication, this is not the series.
What makes Avoiding work for its readers is the scale of the emotional fallout. The story stretches across years, bad choices, attempts to move on, and the kind of unfinished connection that keeps dragging people back to each other. Love is not the only issue. Timing, betrayal, ego, fear, and plain old self sabotage matter just as much.
The books use a mix of present conflict and past history to show how the triangle formed and why it is so hard to break. Lexi's decisions are often frustrating on purpose, and Jack and Ramsey are not designed to make life simple either. That tension is the point. The series asks readers to sit inside complicated feelings rather than rush to a clean answer.
The side characters help, especially Chyna, who brings some steel and perspective to the chaos and later gets her own spotlight. Bonus material and companion pieces widen the emotional picture by letting other characters step in with their versions of events.
Avoiding is angsty, divisive, and extremely readable if you are in the mood for romance that hurts a little. Readers who love it tend to love it for exactly that reason.
