Series background & context

Angel Creek Christmas Brides is a shared historical Western romance series set in Montana after the Civil War. Women from the South, facing a damaged home and limited prospects, travel west in search of work, community, and possible marriage.

Sylvia McDaniel wrote several entries in the series, including Charity, Ginger, Minnie, and Cora. Her stories return to Angel Creek at Christmas, when mail-order brides, returning soldiers, saloon owners, ranchers, and newcomers all have reasons to hope for a different future.

Angel Creek keeps making room for one more bride.

The town is the key connection across the books. Its residents build friendships, witness each other's hard beginnings, and create a place where women who have lost much can start again. The romances balance holiday warmth with the harder facts of rebuilding a life in the West.

Each novella focuses on its own heroine and couple, so McDaniel's contributions can be read independently. Readers who want to follow her entries in publication order can begin with Charity, then continue with Ginger, Minnie, and Cora. Expect Christmas settings, mail-order setups, found community, and hopeful historical romance.
