The third volume widens the lens again. While the greatest threat still lies beyond the borders of settled space, greed and ambition inside the Terran Union are starting to rot it from within. Smuggled alien technology and political manoeuvring at home force Jack into uneasy alliances with former comrades outside official channels. Hunting that corruption through the Union’s underworld becomes as important as facing what waits in the dark between the stars.

Across the trilogy readers can expect fleet actions, tense boarding missions, and puzzles built around strange alien ruins, but the heart of the series sits with Jack and his shipmates.
