A Tale of the Sazi Books in Order

A Tale of the Sazi is the series where Cathy Clamp and C.T. Adams build out a hidden world of shapeshifters living right alongside everyone else. Wolves, cats, bears, birds, snakes, and other changers all belong to the larger Sazi community, which has its own laws, politics, grudges, and enforcers. The books mix paranormal romance with urban fantasy, but they lean hard on action, pack tension, and the practical problem of keeping this secret world from blowing open.

The first book, Hunter's Moon, gives readers the door into that world through Tony Giodone, a Mafia hitman who survives an attack and discovers he is turning into a wolf. His bond with Sue Quentin anchors the opening arc, and the series uses their story to explain how the Sazi live, how mates work, and why pack loyalties can be both protective and brutal.

After that, the series widens. Some books stay close to Tony and Sue, while others shift to new couples and corners of the Sazi world. Captive Moon follows Antoine Monier and Tahira Kuric across old rivalries. Moon's Fury moves into Texas wolf politics with Cara Salinas and Adam Mueller. Timeless Moon turns toward older Sazi history, seers, and unfinished love. That rotating focus is a big part of what makes the series feel expansive instead of repetitive.

Nobody here gets to sit out the larger war.

Setting matters more than you might expect. The books move through cities, small towns, and rural stretches where secrecy can either protect the Sazi or trap them. Law enforcement, pack leadership, family ties, and species tradition all shape the conflict. A wolf does not smell the world the same way a bird or cat does, and the series has fun with those differences while also treating them as real political problems.

Tonally, these are fast, emotional books. They like shootouts, chases, kidnappings, psychic gifts, and romance under pressure. But the through line is community. Again and again, the Sazi have to decide who belongs, who gets protected, and what they owe one another when fear takes over. Even when each book has its own couple, the larger world keeps moving underneath them.

If you want one sweeping shapeshifter universe rather than a series locked to a single pair, this is what the Sazi books do well. Each entry stands in its own spotlight, but together they build a world that feels lived in, dangerous, and tightly connected. The later Luna Lake books grow out of the consequences of what happens here, so this is the foundation for the broader Sazi setting.
