Series background & context

A Highland Feuding is a medieval Scottish romance series about two clans that have spent generations locked in conflict. The Cameron and Mackintosh feud is not just old history. It shapes marriages, borders, loyalties, and the way every character reads another person's motives.

The series starts with Stolen by the Highlander, when Arabella Cameron is meant to make a marriage that could help end the fighting, only to be taken by Brodie Mackintosh. From there, the books follow other couples connected to the two clans as they face runaway brides, false identities, dangerous family schemes, and alliances that can collapse without warning.

Love is the risky choice here.

Brisbin grounds the series in the practical concerns of clan life. A marriage can bring peace, cattle, land, warriors, or a dangerous new obligation. A person who crosses a border may be seen as a hostage, a spy, or a bargaining tool before they are seen as an individual. That pressure gives the romances real momentum, even when the main conflict is emotional.

The early books, The Highlander's Runaway Bride, Kidnapped by the Highland Rogue, and Claiming His Highland Bride, each turn the central feud in a different direction. The characters are often trying to protect family while discovering that family expectations have hidden costs. A Healer for the Highlander broadens the world through Anna MacKenzie, a healer with her own reasons for seeking the Cameron clan.

Later installments tie the series more closely to Brisbin's Clan MacLerie books. The Highlander's Inconvenient Bride centers on a marriage intended to strengthen an alliance, while Her Highlander for One Night returns to the emotional fallout of old choices and long-held feelings. Those connections are a bonus for longtime readers, but the central Cameron and Mackintosh conflict remains easy to follow.

Expect a brisk, dramatic tone.

These books are for readers who like Highland settings with real stakes behind the attraction. There are rescues, journeys through difficult country, secrets that cannot stay hidden, and couples who must decide whether trust is possible when their names alone make them enemies. Start with Stolen by the Highlander to see the feud and its first major challenge from the beginning.
