A Demon's Rule Books in Order

This is one of McCoy's darker paranormal worlds. Instead of modern streets or hidden supernatural communities, the story is set in a version of Hell that has its own order, rulers, servants, and history. The central pair, Rahmirus and Serephine, are twin souls sent to create that world, and by the time the series begins they have been separated for almost a century.

That separation is the engine of the whole story.

Their absence from each other has left Hell unstable. A power-hungry lord is gaining ground, old betrayals are still poisoning everything around them, and a looming visit from the Creator raises the pressure even more. So while the romance matters, the books are also about whether two rulers can come back together fast enough to stop an entire realm from collapsing.

The setting has a more mythic feel than many of McCoy's other series. Hell is populated by mages, powerful children, dangerous realms, and strange gifts that make the place feel lived in rather than purely symbolic. There is heat, but there is also a lot of emotional damage, suspicion, grief, and unfinished business. That gives the love story more weight than a simple reunion.

The two books follow a clear arc. Queen of Death is the story of fracture, memory, and the hard path back toward trust. King of Death shifts into the race to reclaim control before outside judgment arrives and hidden enemies do worse damage. Together they read like one dark fantasy romance split into two movements.

This world is heavier than some of McCoy's others.

If you like paranormal romance with a more ominous mood, strong lore, and a ruling couple whose relationship affects the fate of everyone around them, this is the series to pick up. The books keep their attention on love, but they never forget that power and survival are tangled up in it.
