The Written in the Stars books are connected standalones set in Seattle, so each romance has its own couple and emotional arc, but the friend group carries from book to book. Written in the Stars opens with two people who seem wildly wrong for each other. Darcy Lowell is practical, skeptical, and precise. Elle Jones is an astrologer with a big online following and a much more romantic view of the world. A fake relationship over the holidays gives the series its first big push, and it sets the tone nicely: lots of banter, lots of tension, and characters learning that the neat version of love in their heads is not always the version that actually fits.

The second book, Hang the Moon, shifts to Darcy's brother Brendon and Annie, one of Darcy's closest friends. Brendon is a believer in grand romance, the kind of guy who plans dates inspired by his favorite movies. Annie is in Seattle only temporarily, which gives the book its main ache. The story keeps the series rooted in the same social circle, but it opens up new questions about timing, place, and whether love can work when two people want different futures.

Then Count Your Lucky Stars turns to Margot and Olivia, former best friends whose reunion brings a second-chance thread into the mix. Olivia is back in Seattle for work, Margot is not exactly thrilled to be knocked off balance, and close quarters force both women to face what went wrong years earlier. By this point the series feels comfortably settled into its world, with weddings, roommates, old crushes, and chosen family all sharing the stage.

Seattle does a lot of work here.

Bellefleur uses the city as more than scenery. Neighborhoods, weather, favorite hangouts, and local color help give the trilogy its cozy shape. Across all three books, the tone stays light on its feet even when the feelings get serious. These are sexy contemporary rom-coms, but they are also interested in family expectations, self-protection, and the ways people talk themselves out of being loved.

If you are wondering what carries across the whole series, it is the mix of chemistry and comfort. The books share queer joy, affectionate teasing, and a cast that keeps showing up for one another. Expect fake dating, childhood crushes, second chances, and a lot of emotional back-and-forth before the happily-ever-after lands. Read them in order if you want the fullest experience, or pick the trope that sounds best and start there.
