The Wings of Steele series begins with Jack Steele trying to build a quieter life. Once a big-city police officer, Jack left the job after losing a friend in the line of duty and then went through a difficult divorce. He turns to flying instead, working as a pilot for hire and ferrying aircraft where clients need them. His regular companion is Fritz, his German Shepherd.

That practical, Earth-based setup does not stay simple for long. In Destination Unknown, Jack and his copilot are caught up in a violent situation that makes them targets and forces them to run. The story quickly opens onto a wider reality, one involving alien life, distant systems, and dangers Jack could never have planned for.

This is action-forward science fiction with a space-opera scale. The series has aircraft, starships, armed crews, and missions that can turn on a mechanical problem, a bad tactical call, or an enemy who knows more than they should. The personal survival story has become a broader responsibility.

Dark Cover follows a struggle against alien operatives embedded in human institutions, putting Jack in a conflict where exposing the truth matters as much as firepower. Resurrection sends the story into harsher territory, testing Jack and the people connected to him with separation, uncertainty, and threats spread across space.
