Series background & context

The Wild Aces books are contemporary military romances centered on U.S. Air Force fighter pilots and the people who love them. The obvious draw is the pilot fantasy, call signs, jets, training, swagger, and the very real danger of the job, but the series works because Cleeton keeps bringing the story back to the emotional cost of that life. These books are about risk in the air and risk at home.

The planes are flashy, but the waiting is what really shapes these books.

Fly with Me starts the series with Noah Miller and Jordan Callahan, whose Las Vegas spark quickly turns into something more serious. What makes that first book a strong entry point is the way it sets up the whole world, not just one romance. You get the camaraderie between pilots, the long-distance strain, the blend of confidence and vulnerability, and the reality that loving someone in a dangerous profession means accepting how little control you actually have.

Into the Blue shifts to Eric Jansen, known as Thor, and leans into second-chance romance. That book adds more ache to the series. Cleeton is good at writing couples with history, and this one shows how much the series depends on more than physical attraction. Old hurt, pride, guilt, and timing all matter. The flying is still there, but the real question is whether two people can trust each other again after years of damage.

By the time you get to On Broken Wings, the series is willing to sit with grief as well as desire. Dani Peterson and Alex Rogers are tied together by loss, memory, and loyalty to someone they both loved. That gives the book a gentler, more emotionally bruised feel, while still keeping the strong sense of military community that runs through all three novels.

Setting matters in Wild Aces. These books are grounded in bases, deployments, reunions, and the routines of service life. Cleeton pays attention to the home front, too, not just the men in uniform but the women building careers, holding families together, and deciding what they are willing to sacrifice for love. That balance keeps the series from feeling one-note.

If you want romance that is sexy, heartfelt, and a little more grounded than the title might suggest, Wild Aces is a good bet. The books have plenty of heat, but they are just as interested in trust, grief, resilience, and the strange mix of pride and fear that comes with loving someone whose job is to fly toward danger.
