Series background & context

The Wicked Ways duet is a darker, more secretive corner of K. Bromberg’s contemporary romance. It follows Vaughn Sanders, a woman who has built a lucrative business around arranging private fantasies for powerful clients, and Ryker Lockhart, the guarded attorney who sees far more of her life than she intended.

The first book, Resist, sets the terms of their dangerous arrangement.

Vaughn understands how to control a room and how to keep her own past out of view. Her work puts her close to wealth, influence, and people who expect privacy, but the business also leaves her exposed. Ryker is brilliant, watchful, and not easily pushed away. Their connection begins in a world where money can buy access but cannot guarantee trust.

The tension comes from the collision between professional rules and personal need. Vaughn has reasons to keep her secrets buried. Ryker has his own guarded instincts, and neither person is prepared to hand the other an easy path to the truth. The attraction is immediate, but the emotional stakes build through questions about power, vulnerability, and whether a relationship can survive what has been hidden.

Reveal continues the same central love story, so this is not a series to read out of order. The first book establishes the characters, their arrangement, and the threats around them. The second follows the fallout as their bond becomes harder to deny and the secrets between them become more difficult to contain.

This is a duet for readers who like contemporary romance with a sharper edge. The setting is glamorous, but it is not carefree. The series leans into seduction, complicated consent and boundaries, unequal power, and characters who need to decide what honesty costs. The suspense comes less from a single mystery than from what happens when control begins to slip.

Start with Resist and go directly to Reveal. The two books tell one continuing story, and the emotional payoff depends on seeing how Vaughn and Ryker move from careful negotiation to something that asks much more of them.
