Series background & context

Whip-N-Fade is a connected romance series set around a close community in the Greenwood Municipality of Saint Louis. The series brings together stories by Bailey West and Marlee Rae, with familiar local businesses, relationships, and friendships helping link the books. The atmosphere is grounded in neighborhood life, work, and people who know more about one another than they sometimes admit.

Bailey West's first contribution is Anuri. Anuri is a talented hairstylist working at Whip-N-Fade when a ten-year relationship ends in heartbreak. She wants to focus on herself, her career, and a fresh start. Kalmin, the coffee-shop owner who has long been her friend, sees a chance to be honest about feelings he has kept to himself.

Friendship gives the romance its foundation.

The book is less interested in manufactured drama than in Anuri learning that accepting care does not make her weak. Kalmin supports her without rushing her healing, while Anuri has to decide whether she can believe in a relationship that feels safer and more reciprocal than the one she left. The salon and coffee-shop setting keeps their personal story tied to an active local community.

Blacc returns to the wider Whip-N-Fade world with Kerwin "Blacc" Blaccburn and Aster. Years after one memorable night together, Aster comes back into Blacc's life with Harmony, the daughter he never knew he had. The central tension is immediate: Aster fears rejection, while Blacc has to decide how forgiveness, fatherhood, and responsibility will shape the family he did not expect.

These are adult romances with emotional stakes rooted in rebuilding. The characters are not only deciding whether to date. They are dealing with a broken long-term relationship, the shift from friendship to love, co-parenting, family, and the courage required to say what they want.

Start with Anuri for the clearest introduction to West's corner of Greenwood, then continue with Blacc. Because Whip-N-Fade is a shared series, the wider setting extends beyond these two books, but West's installments stand as complete romances connected by place, community, and the idea that support can change what love looks like.
