Waiting to Breathe follows Stenton and Zoey, and it has the stretched, breath-held feeling the title promises. Stenton is a basketball star, talented, visible, and carrying the kind of reputation that comes with money, fame, and past scandal. Zoey is younger, brilliant, and firmly focused on the life she means to build for herself. She is not supposed to become another chapter in a professional athlete's chaos.

Of course, she does.

What gives this duo its shape is timing. The connection between them is strong, but the series keeps asking whether strong and right are the same thing. Stenton is used to moving with power, and Zoey is too smart to be swept along just because a man is intense. Their relationship keeps running into image, secrets, motives, and the problem of what happens when one person seems to know much more than the other.

The sports world is present, but it is not the only point. This is really a relationship story about delay, misread intentions, and the feeling that two people may have arrived at each other before either one is ready to stand still. Belvin is interested in the way attraction can feel obvious while trust still has to be earned the hard way.

Love Delayed opens the emotional knot. Love Delivered deals with what surfaces once hidden truths stop hiding. Because there are only two books, the series moves with a little more directness than some of Belvin's longer projects, but it still has her usual appetite for tension and emotional mess.

If you want a Love Belvin series that mixes fame, youth, control, and romantic bad timing, this one has a strong pull.
