The W.I.T.C.H. books begin with five ordinary girls discovering that ordinary life is no longer an option.

Their initials form the name W.I.T.C.H., and each girl carries a different magical power. Together they protect the barrier between Earth and other worlds, especially the troubled realm of Meridian.
