Author bio

Victoria H Smith writes romance, but she doesn't stay in one lane for long. Across her catalog you'll find college-set love stories, sports romance, billionaire drama, paranormal serials, music-world books, and a small-town second-chance novel. That range is part of the appeal. Even when the setting shifts, the emotional stakes stay personal.

She has described herself in straightforward terms: a writer with a bachelor's degree in political science who now spends her days building love stories. In earlier bios, she said she lived in the Midwest with a cornfield nearby and a MacBook close at hand. It is an image that fits her work, grounded, homegrown, and a little funny in the best way.

Smith started publishing in the early 2010s, and her first stretch already showed how much she liked mixing tones. The Crimson Hunt and The Bringer's Quest brought together college life, romance, hidden powers, and danger in the Eldaen Light Chronicles. Soon after, The Space Between introduced Drake and Lacey, a couple whose story moved from Chicago to Paris and finally to South Korea in The Dividing Line and Drake's Destiny.

Those books also point to something she returns to often: characters from different worlds trying to build a real relationship while money, class, family history, or public attention keep getting in the way. Smith writes plenty of heat, but she usually gives her couples outside pressure too. The romance has to survive real life, not just attraction.

Then she really opened the map.

Found by You follows college basketball star Griffin Chandler and Roxie, the girl he can't ignore, and it grew into a wider Chandler-family world through Loved by You, Brody, Cherished by You, Blake, and Colton. Readers who like her sports romance side tend to stay for that series because it keeps expanding without losing the feeling of one tight emotional circle. Fame, loyalty, family baggage, and second chances all live there together.

She is just as comfortable changing tempo. The Love in the City books move through Chicago, Aspen, and New York with wealthy brothers, accidental pregnancies, and hard-won reunions. Sugar Love heads into the world of K-pop and celebrity. His Sweetest Song pulls everything back to a Kansas inheritance story with a single dad, old grief, and a woman trying to figure out why she was called home. She also co-wrote Only Love with Raven St. Pierre, a more intimate contemporary romance about a single mother and the police officer who gets past her defenses.

Music matters in her process too.

In interviews and author notes, Smith has talked about giving each book its own soundtrack, sometimes finding one song that helps define a character. That detail makes sense once you read her. Many of her stories move with a strong emotional beat, and her leads often feel like people who already have an anthem playing somewhere just off the page. It also helps explain why books like The Space Between and Found by You feel so tuned into mood.

Publicly, Smith keeps her bio warm and unpretentious. She has said she enjoys food, art, K-pop, extreme couponing, Sherlock, DC Comics, and Disney World so much that she honeymooned there. She picked up a 2014 Swirl Award for Best New Adult Romance and an AMB Ovation Award for Found by You. Put that all together and you get a pretty clear picture of the work: heartfelt, steamy, wide-ranging romance from a writer who likes big feelings, memorable settings, and characters who never stop talking back.
