Author bio
Victoria Ashley writes the kind of romance she loves to read herself, full of tattooed bad boys, stubborn heroines and feelings that hit as hard as the heat on the page. She grew up in Rockford, Illinois, and turned a quiet obsession with books into a career that has taken her onto major bestseller lists.
As a kid and teenager she was the person who always had a paperback tucked into her bag. Reading was a way to slip out of small-town life for a while, and she gravitated early toward emotional, high-stakes love stories. For years she told herself she was “only” a reader, not a writer, even while she filled notebooks with scenes and ideas.
Everything shifted when she discovered a mobile reading app that let users upload their own stories. On a whim she posted a messy, unpolished story called Some Roommate. She expected a handful of reads at most. Instead, the chapters took off, comments piled up, and readers started asking for more. That response lit something up for her. For the first time, she could see a path from daydreams to finished books in readers’ hands.
Her first full-length novel, Wake Up Call, grew out of that moment. The book follows Avery, a stripper who has learned not to trust anyone, and Jace, the stranger who refuses to let her stay numb and alone. It set the tone for much of Ashley’s later work, mixing gritty backstories, trauma and survival with an unapologetically hot romance. She followed it with This Regret, digging even deeper into grief, family secrets and second chances.
Many readers found her through the Walk of Shame books, starting with Slade. That series is built around a notorious strip club where six male entertainers each get their own story. On the surface it is pure fantasy, all neon lights and dirty talk, but underneath are characters wrestling with addiction, guilt, intimacy issues and the fear that they are not worth loving. The club becomes a kind of found family, a place where damaged people figure out how to show up for each other.
From there she moved into darker territory with the Savage & Ink books, beginning with Royal Savage and Beautiful Savage, and the two-book Pain series, Get Off On The Pain and Something For The Pain. These stories lean hard into trauma, violence, addiction and the rough edges of desire. Inked fighters, haunted brothers and people who use pain as armor slowly learn what it costs to keep everyone at arm’s length.
Ashley also likes to play in shared worlds and tight, fast-paced series. With Jenika Snow she co-writes the Locke Brothers books, where three feared brothers, tagged Damaged, Savage and Twisted, fall hard for the women willing to see past their reputations. With Hilary Storm she explores the world of an adult chat house in the Alphachat stories. Shorter books like these keep the focus on chemistry, obsession and the moment where lust tips into something deeper.
Alongside her series, she continues to release standalones that showcase different sides of her writing. Strung brings together a guarded writer and a charismatic beach-bar musician. Sex Material follows a man who has sworn off love until a prickly new tenant gets under his skin. Books like Wreck My World and Steal You Away lean into intense, slow-burn angst with brother’s-best-friend and forbidden-love twists.
In interviews she often laughs about crying over her own scenes, and about how much she enjoys writing men who look like trouble but quietly crave connection. When she is not drafting or revising, she is usually reading more romance or catching up on favorite shows like Sons of Anarchy, Dexter or True Blood. The throughline in all of it is the same: flawed people, bad decisions, and the stubborn hope that someone will love you exactly as you are.
Pick up almost any Victoria Ashley book and you will find that mix of raw emotion, explicit heat and characters who feel like they could walk out of a late-night bar or tattoo shop and straight onto the page.
