Vicious Cycle Books in Order

Vicious Cycle is Katie Ashley's biker-club series, and it leans darker than many of her other books. The world here is the Hell's Raiders motorcycle club, where loyalty is everything, violence is never far away, and family can mean blood, club bonds, or the people you end up protecting when life turns brutal. These books are not cozy. They live in a space shaped by turf wars, trafficking, revenge, and the hard rules of a club that sits outside ordinary life.

The first book, Vicious Cycle, throws readers straight into that world through Deacon Malloy, a longtime club member whose life is upended when he discovers he has a young daughter. That sudden shift into fatherhood gives the series an emotional center. Deacon is dangerous, rough around the edges, and fully shaped by the club, but the story asks whether a man like that can change once love stops being abstract and turns into the very real need to protect a child. Alexandra, the kindergarten teacher drawn into his orbit, becomes the bridge between the biker world and the outside world.

Nothing in this series stays simple for long.

Redemption Road pushes the stakes even higher. Annabel comes from money and politics, but safety is an illusion, and after being trafficked she is rescued by Rev, a biker who understands violence from the inside. Their relationship brings out one of the main themes of the series, survival after trauma. Love is not treated like a magic fix. The characters carry damage, and the question is whether they can build any kind of future while still living inside a dangerous system.

Later books, including Last Mile, stay in that same Hell's Raiders orbit. Even when the main couple changes, the background pressure remains familiar, rivalries, club business, moral gray areas, and the challenge of trying to make room for tenderness in a life built around force. Ashley keeps returning to characters who are pulled between two truths at once. They love fiercely, and they live inside a world that punishes softness.

That tension is what gives the series its shape. These are romances, but they are also stories about belonging, loyalty, and whether people raised in violence can choose something better without losing the only family they have ever known. Children, found family, and the need to protect vulnerable people show up again and again, which helps keep the emotional core strong even when the plot gets dark.

The tone is intense, physical, and sometimes harsh, but it is never only about danger for danger's sake. Ashley uses the biker setting to test how far her characters will go for each other and what redemption might actually cost. If you want softer, lighter romance, this probably is not the place to start. If you want dark contemporary romance with real heat and a damaged-family feel, it will likely work much better.

This series earns its title.
