The first book, Running Mate, kicks things off with a classic setup that Ashley clearly enjoys, a fake relationship that turns very real. Addison Monroe is offered serious money to play the part of Barrett's fiancée through the campaign. That gives the series its central feel right away, lots of banter, forced proximity, image management, and two people who begin by performing romance before they understand they are actually in it.

Office Mate moves from the campaign trail into the family business, where Thorn Callahan, a decorated soldier pulled out of the military for security reasons, clashes with Isabel, the transition coordinator who has no interest in making life easy for the boss's son. That story keeps the series tension between privilege and earned success. Thorn has the name. Isabel has the competence. Neither wants to admit how much they are noticing the other.

Room Mate adds another strong angle, security. Caroline Callahan is already used to being overprotected, but threats against her make the situation tighter when Ty Frasier, a British bodyguard with deep ties to the family, has to move in with her. That turns the series more toward close quarters and forbidden attraction. It still fits the same world, though, because even the most personal moments are shaped by family expectations, danger, and the cost of being connected to power.

Across the series, Ashley keeps returning to a few things. Public image versus private desire. Duty versus freedom. Family loyalty versus personal happiness. These are glossy romances, but they are not weightless. The characters have to figure out whether they are acting out a role someone else handed them or choosing a life for themselves.

The tone is polished, sexy, and fun, with enough emotional grounding to keep the books from feeling airy. If you like fake fiancées, protective heroes, powerful families, and heroines who do not roll over just because a man is rich or famous, Running Mate is a good fit.

It is romance under a spotlight, and the spotlight never really turns off.
