Where should I start?
If you want cozy mysteries first: Murder in a Scottish Shire → Murder in a Scottish Garden → Murder at a Scottish Social
If you like paranormal sleuthing: Mrs. Morris and the Ghost → Mrs. Morris and the Witch → Mrs. Morris and the Sorceress
If you want seaside romance: Ambrosia by the Sea → Karma by the Sea → Puppy Love by the Sea
If you prefer sweet small-town romance: In the Dog House → Just One Kiss
If medieval magic sounds fun: Love's Magic → Beauty's Curse → Boadicea's Legacy
Author bio
Traci Hall was born in the Pacific Northwest, and books were part of her life early. She has said that childhood trips to the bookmobile and library mattered a lot, and that she read so fast she started making up stories between visits.
That habit turned into a writing life.
Hall writes across a wide stretch of genres. Under her own name she has published cozy mysteries, seaside romances, young adult paranormal stories, historical romance, and nonfiction. She also writes the Salem B&B books as Traci Wilton, with Patrice Wilton, and the Irish Castle mysteries as Ellie Brannigan.
A good way into her work is through the cozy side. Murder in a Scottish Shire introduces Paislee Shaw, a sweater shop owner in Nairn, Scotland, and it shows Hall's taste for small towns, family tangles, and murder plots that move quickly. Mrs. Morris and the Ghost brings that same friendliness to Salem, Massachusetts, with a haunted bed-and-breakfast and a ghostly sleuthing partner. In Murder at an Irish Castle, she shifts to the Irish countryside and a crumbling inheritance that comes with very human problems.
Romance readers know another side of her, too. Books like Ambrosia by the Sea and In the Dog House lean into second chances, hurt people trying again, and communities where neighbors, pets, and family are always part of the story. Earlier books such as Love's Magic show her interest in medieval settings, curses, and women who have more power than the people around them expect.
That range is part of the appeal. Even when the genre changes, Hall tends to come back to the same things: women rebuilding after loss, close communities with long memories, a little magic or mystery at the edges, and love stories that have to work through real damage before they earn a happy ending.
She has published more than fifty books and has been active in writing organizations as well. Hall is a member of Mystery Writers of America and Romance Writers of America, and she previously served as president of the Florida Romance Writers Association. She also co-runs CommunityAuthors.com and works as an editor, which fits the practical, hands-on feel readers often notice in her books.
She teaches workshops, too.
Coffee seems to be part of the process.
These days Hall lives in South Florida, close to the ocean that shows up so often in her fiction. She still talks about the Pacific Northwest as home ground, and that mix, coast to coast, sun and rain, beach town and evergreen memory, feels right for a writer who moves easily between cozy crime, romance, and the paranormal. Whether she is writing knitters in Scotland, ghosts in Salem, or couples finding their footing by the water, her books usually offer a welcoming place to spend a few hours.
