Seduction in the Snow

by Julia Kelly

Series background & context

Ticket To Love is a trio of connected contemporary novellas that grew out of Julia Kelly's work on the One Week In Love anthologies. Writing as Julia Blake, she revisits characters and ideas from those collections and gives them more time, more heat, and full arcs of their own.

In Seduction in the Snow, guarded writer Lydia Reed meets gentle, glasses wearing winemaker Evan Sullivan on a flight to a Wyoming resort. Both agree that a short, intense fling during a week at a luxury lodge is all they want. As days fill with skiing, hot tubs, and late night conversations, Evan quietly decides that temporary is not enough and sets out to change Lydia's mind about love.

The Wedding Week heads to Hawaii, where no nonsense planner Annie Kalani has built a business on keeping brides calm and events under control. Her personal rule is simple, never get involved with the guests. That resolve wobbles when she is paired with charming Los Angeles chef Chris Benson for a beachfront wedding and discovers that the man responsible for the reception menu is also the one person who makes her think about breaking all her rules.

The holiday themed Kiss Me at Midnight follows Allina Hemphill, whose well meaning parents have spent years setting her up on lackluster dates. On Christmas Eve their latest attempt introduces her to Blane Douglas, and a fast, fizzy romance unfolds between family gatherings and a New Year's Eve countdown. What begins as a bit of mistletoe fun becomes a chance at something real.

All three books share a focus on competent women in demanding jobs who think they do not have time for romance. Each story takes place over just a few days, which keeps the pace quick while still leaving room for humor, vulnerability, and friends cheering from the sidelines. You can read the novellas in any order, but moving from Seduction in the Snow to The Wedding Week and then Kiss Me at Midnight follows the original publishing sequence and highlights the small connections between the stories.
