Three More Wishes Books in Order

Three More Wishes is a set of connected contemporary romance novellas about women whose lives take sudden turns, often at the exact moment they think they have a sensible plan. The books share the same playful spirit as Elise Sax’s Five Wishes stories, with romantic complications, embarrassing timing, and characters trying to make the best of situations that keep getting bigger.

A wish is rarely as simple as it sounds.

The series opens with Blown Away, which follows journalist Millie Mossberg as she deals with a secret pregnancy and the fact that her colleague Cade Reed is the father. Millie has to tell him the truth while they are assigned to cover a dangerous international story, and their work takes an especially chaotic turn when they are stranded in a runaway hot-air balloon.

That opening gives a good sense of the series. The stories are romantic, but they do not begin in perfect circumstances. The heroines have jobs, worries, awkward secrets, and a strong tendency to meet love while dealing with a major problem. Sax uses the situations for banter and comedy, but the characters still need to decide whether they can trust someone enough to change their plans.

Inn & Out continues the collection’s interest in people thrown together by circumstance. Quick Bang follows Norma, who runs a café on Summer Island, and Stone, a man whose regular dinners at her place are not nearly as casual as he pretends. A storm forces both characters to confront what they have been avoiding, while an outside threat turns one charged night into a dangerous one.

The novels are linked more by mood and theme than by one continuing plot.

Readers can expect quick-moving stories with adult romance, career pressure, travel or island settings, and people whose careful emotional distance becomes difficult to maintain. Sax’s humor is present throughout, especially when a serious situation collides with inconvenient attraction or a character talks themselves into an even worse mess.

These books work well for readers who like a shorter romance but still want a full beginning, middle, and happily-ever-after direction. Since Blown Away starts the sequence and establishes the tone, it is the natural place to begin. The following novellas are brief enough to read separately, but in order they make a satisfying trio of high-energy love stories.

Expect bad timing, strong chemistry, unexpected danger, and a few wishes that turn out to be more complicated than anyone intended.
