Series background & context

The Warrior Race takes one of the strongest fighters from the Enhanced world and throws her into an entirely different kind of nightmare. Kira Blackstone is kidnapped away from Haven and dropped into Neorome, a city built around spectacle, power, and violence. Her abilities are suppressed, her freedom is gone, and survival suddenly depends on rules she did not choose.

Neorome is the hook here.

The city feels part dystopian empire, part arena story, with clear nods to gladiator fiction. Slaves, rulers, crowds, public trials of strength, and political games all matter at once. Kira is not just fighting individual opponents. She is fighting a system that turns pain into entertainment and loyalty into leverage. That gives the series a very different flavor from the main Enhanced books, even though it shares the same wider world.

Kira is a good fit for that setting because she is already hard to break. She has survived war before, but Neorome demands a different kind of toughness. In the arena, strength has to be visible. Outside it, she has to learn how to read the people around her, especially Empress Vesper, Prince Domitian, and Rufus. Those relationships keep the story from becoming a simple chain of fight scenes.

And yes, there are plenty of fight scenes.

What starts as forced survival slowly turns into something more political. Kira's choices begin to matter not just to her own life, but to the balance of power inside the city. The books widen from culls and duels into unrest, divided loyalties, and the possibility that the war in the arena might spill out into the streets and palaces around it.

One useful thing about this series is that it can work in two ways. If you already know Kira from the shared Enhanced story, it deepens her. If you start here, it still reads cleanly as a brutal, self-contained arc about a fighter trapped in a machine that wants to use her.

If you want Roman flavored dystopian politics, a capable lead, and a series that knows how to turn captivity into rebellion, The Warrior Race is the TC Edge set to pick up.
