Series background & context

The Turner and Mosley Files is LynDee Walker's high-adventure side, written with Bruce Robert Coffin. These books follow Avery Turner and Carter Mosley, a pair built for big, globe-spanning trouble. Avery is a brilliant tech entrepreneur with money, reach, and a taste for impossible puzzles. Carter is a shipwreck diver and born risk-taker who is far more comfortable in dangerous places than most people would ever be. Together, they are the sort of team that attracts secrets, relics, and armed enemies.

Their partnership is the real engine of the series. Avery brings research, resources, and a cool head when the trail gets complicated. Carter brings field skills, nerve, and the willingness to dive, climb, or chase wherever the clues point. The books work because neither one could do this alone. There is trust between them, but also tension, momentum, and the sense that every new lead might throw them somewhere even more reckless.

The adventures move fast and wide. The General's Gold starts with a suspicious death and a legendary treasure hunt that stretches from the American East Coast to the Atlantic. The Cardinal's Curse sends Avery and Carter to Antarctica after a shipwreck said to hold Norway's lost crown jewels. The Pirate's Secret moves through England and Paris on the trail of pirate lore and a murdered friend. The Pharaoh's Tomb heads to Cairo for a vanished artifact tied to a forgotten queen, and The Emperor's Palace raises the stakes again by tying a kidnapping to a relic lost for centuries.

These books lean into history, codes, maps, old legends, and the very modern people willing to kill for them. There are dives, chases, betrayals, sabotage, and the occasional moment where advanced tech and ancient mystery meet in the same scene. Even when the scale gets large, the series keeps the focus on two people trying to stay alive long enough to make sense of what they have found.

These books move.

If you like treasure-hunt thrillers in the tradition of clue chasing, buried history, and dangerous travel, this series knows exactly what it is doing. The stories are bigger and more international than Walker's crime procedurals, but the same strengths still show up, clear plotting, steady suspense, and characters who do not quit when the odds get ugly. Start at the beginning and enjoy the ride, because each book builds confidence in the duo and keeps widening the world around them.
