Series background & context
The Thunderbolt Club is Lenora Bell's later Regency romance series, pairing high-spirited setups with characters who have to grow into responsibility. The books are connected by their world and by the men around the club, but each focuses on a separate couple. So far, the series moves from a seaside encounter and a London scandal to a war-scarred duke's unexpected marriage.
You're the Duke That I Want opens with Sandrine Oliver, a bookish young woman from the quiet village of Squalton-on-Sea. Sandrine wants adventure, and a handsome stranger seems to offer it when he arrives at the beach. Then he disappears. In London, she learns that the man she knew as Danny is actually Lord Dane Walker, a notorious rake who has suddenly inherited a dukedom and its dangerous problems.
Dane and Sandrine are not simply dealing with a bruised first impression. His new duties come with a family secret that could endanger people around him, while Sandrine has traveled to London with a cause of her own. Their romance puts a sheltered but curious heroine beside a man who has spent years avoiding the role he now has to fill.
The second book, Can't Get Enough of the Duke, follows Deckard Payne, Duke of Warburton. After surviving the Napoleonic Wars, Dex carries serious injuries and a promise made to a dying soldier: he will look after the man's daughter, Analise Crewe. Years pass before he finds Ana in London, where she is trying to sell her novel and keep herself afloat. A forced marriage changes their arrangement and brings two very different ideas of duty, love, and freedom into conflict.
This is a lighter, more openly rom-com-leaning series, but the characters still face meaningful pressure. Dane must confront the consequences of becoming a duke. Dex must untangle protection from control. Sandrine and Ana both want larger lives than the ones others have planned for them.
Expect secrets, mistaken assumptions, strong-willed heroines, and men learning that status does not make every decision for them. The stories use familiar romantic-comedy energy while keeping the emotional stakes close to the characters' families, futures, and sense of self.
Start with You're the Duke That I Want to enter the series at the beginning and meet its lively tone. Continue with Can't Get Enough of the Duke for a more guarded hero, an aspiring writer heroine, and another unexpected path to partnership.
