The Taylors Books in Order

The Taylors is a realistic middle grade series built on a very funny premise, four girls start school and discover they are all named Taylor. That could have been just a one-joke setup, but Jen Calonita uses it as the beginning of a friendship story about middle school nerves, creativity, fandom, and the awkward work of becoming yourself.

Teffy is the main way in.

She starts as the shy one, the girl who would happily fade into the background if life would let her. The first day of school does not allow that, and being pushed into a strange instant group with three other Taylors becomes the beginning of something bigger. Their shared love of Taylor Swift gives them common ground, but the books are really about how very different kids build trust.

That is why the series feels bigger than the pop-culture hook. There are concert dreams, friendship bracelets, school projects, and later a Nashville trip, but the emotional center is always the same. Each girl is carrying a different fear, and the group only works when they are honest enough to stop pretending everything is fine.

The tone is warm and easy to read. Calonita keeps the drama squarely in middle school territory, which makes the books feel inviting rather than overblown. The problems matter a lot to the girls, but they are still grounded in friendship, confidence, and figuring out how to speak up.

If you want a newer Jen Calonita series without magic, but with plenty of energy and heart, The Taylors is a good place to start. It is sweet, funny, and very tuned in to the way one small shared detail can turn into a whole new support system.
