The Starfolk Books in Order

The Starfolk begins with a question of identity. Rigel has never fully belonged on Earth, and the strange bracelet he has worn since childhood is the first clue that his history is far larger than he thought. When he follows that clue into the Starlands, he discovers a realm where mythic creatures, royal politics, and hard swordplay all feel normal, and where his own bloodline makes him valuable and vulnerable at the same time.

The Starlands are one of Duncan's more playful settings. Minotaurs, sphinxes, half-breeds, and elfin courts all fit together, but the series is not just a parade of fantasy creatures. The real through-line is Rigel himself, a young man pulled between worlds, between human and starborn heritage, and between the life he knew and the one he may not survive.

Rigel's bond with Queen Talitha gives the series much of its emotional push. He can fight monsters and assassins, but he cannot simply slash his way through prophecy, dynastic plotting, or the warning that staying in the Starlands may kill him. That mix of romance, danger, and identity gives the books a slightly fairy-tale quality, even when the action turns rough.

Readers should expect a cross-world quest with a strong adventure pulse. These are brisk books, full of travel, duels, conspiracies, and strange creatures, but they stay focused on one hero trying to work out where he belongs and what he owes to the people he loves. If you like portal-adjacent fantasy with a romantic streak, this is the lane.
