Series background & context

The Skylark books show a newer side of Michelle Major. They are still small-town romances, still full of emotional damage and hopeful endings, but the energy is brighter, steamier, and more openly trope-driven than some of her earlier series. Fake dating, enemies to lovers, sports heroes, wounded billionaires, and surprise pregnancy all show up here, wrapped in fast banter and strong chemistry.

The setting is Skylark, Colorado, a mountain town where people keep crossing paths through family, friendship, and local history. The first books introduce that tone quickly. Someone To Love pairs a fake boyfriend setup with a single-dad NFL hero. Someone To Tempt leans into old heartbreak and rule-breaking attraction. Someone To Have turns confidence lessons into romance, while Someone To Hold adds a scarred bull rider, a flower farm, and the kind of emotional mess that practically guarantees sparks.

Later books keep widening the circle. Someone To Stay and Someone To Keep bring in secret pregnancy, temporary caretaking, recovery from bad relationships, and heroes who have to prove they can actually show up when it counts. A later entry, Someone To Claim, continues the series' interest in second chances and emotionally risky love.

The books are designed to work as standalones, but the town gets richer if you read them in order. This is Major writing with more heat and a more contemporary indie-romance pace, while still holding on to the kindness, found family, and emotional sincerity that make her work recognizable.
