Years after a brief but explosive fling at Pacific Prep, Emilia Harrison lands on an old friend’s doorstep begging for protection from a stalker, trapping herself, her furious ex and the brooding bodyguard hired to guard her under one dangerous roof.
Series background & context
The Ruthless Boys of Ridgeway shifts the focus to college age and drops a familiar face into a new kind of danger. Emilia Harrison, last seen at Pacific Prep, is on the run from a persistent stalker when she arrives unannounced at the home of an old fling in the town of Ridgeway. She is desperate enough to break every boundary, and she knows there is one place that might be able to keep her alive, even if walking through that door reopens a lot of unfinished business.
Pretty Spiteful starts with that late night knock. The man answering the door remembers Emilia as his sister’s best friend and the unforgettable mistake he has never really moved past. His family runs a private security firm, so taking her in is the logical move, but logic does not cover Wilder, the ex who is still furious with her, or Kai, the damaged bodyguard assigned to keep her safe. All of them end up living under one roof, where every conversation sits on top of old hurt and unresolved attraction.
Very quickly, protecting Emilia means protecting her from the people she once trusted as much as from the stranger stalking her.
In Pretty Vile, the narrative leans into Kai’s perspective. He is a man who has spent years numbed by grief and trauma, using work and rigid control to keep the past from swallowing him. Emilia cracks that armor wide open. One kiss is enough to make him want more than his job allows, and when she vanishes, he has to team up with Hawk and Wilder to drag her back from whoever has taken her and confront the ghosts he has been running from.
Pretty Lethal pulls back the curtain on the secret society threaded through Ridgeway’s college scene. The King’s Elite have money, history and no intention of letting Emilia or the men who love her walk away unscathed. Coercion, blackmail and old mistakes collide as the four build a real relationship in the middle of a war with an ancient, entitled organisation. The question stops being whether Emilia will choose between them and becomes how far this found family is willing to go to protect one another.
This series keeps the dark romance edge of Smyth’s earlier work but trades school corridors for security briefings, off campus houses and masked society parties. It is full of second chances, friends to enemies to lovers tension and a stalker plot that stays active across all three books. You will see familiar faces from Pacific Prep, yet Ridgeway has its own identity, making this a satisfying spin off whether you are returning to the world or arriving fresh.
