Series background & context
The Revenant is a modern pulp adventure series starring Thaddeus Vale, a wealthy man who becomes a masked crime fighter after dark. In his white outfit and skull mask, he is known as the Revenant, or the Man in White. His city needs him because criminals, masterminds, and larger threats keep finding ways to put ordinary people in danger.
Central City has a new guardian.
The series takes its cues from the fast-moving mystery heroes of 1930s and 1940s pulp fiction. That means bold villains, hidden identities, looming traps, criminal plots, and a hero who keeps going when the odds look ridiculous. But the setting is modern, giving the stories a fresh version of the old masked-avenger energy.
Thaddeus Vale has money and resources, but the Revenant is not only a man with gadgets. He has to investigate, fight, and make quick decisions when a threat turns public. The books put him against villains with theatrical names and dangerous plans, from dirigible-based terror to figures who use fear, corruption, and chaos as weapons.
The first run begins with The Revenant and the Dirigibles of Death! and continues through The Revenant vs. The Master of Fear, The Revenant and the Roundtable of Crime, and later adventures. Each novella offers a fresh crisis while helping establish the wider criminal world facing Central City. The titles promise big trouble, and the stories aim to deliver it at a brisk pace.
The mask is white. The danger is not.
The tone is direct, energetic, and knowingly pulpy. Readers can expect cliffhanger-style stakes, fights against outsized villains, and a city where justice sometimes needs a person willing to step outside the usual rules. The books are short, making them easy to pick up one at a time while still rewarding readers who follow the larger sequence.
Start with The Revenant and the Dirigibles of Death! to meet Thaddeus Vale and see how the Man in White operates. From there, read in publication order as the villains and threats facing Central City keep growing.
