The Pascual Books in Order

The Pascual series brings Pascual Rose back after the earlier Barcelona-set novels, again under Sam Reaves’s Dominic Martell name. Pascual is older now, with a family and a life he has worked hard to protect. His former career in terrorism and counterterrorism remains a liability, though, especially when people who know his old names decide they need him.

The newer books move the character into a world shaped by encrypted messages, cybercrime, cryptocurrency, and surveillance that reaches into private homes. The technology is modern, but the central problem is familiar to Pascual. Someone with power makes an offer that is not really an offer, and his attempt to protect the people he loves draws him into a bigger operation.

In Kill Chain, an anonymous message breaks Pascual’s hard-won peace. He is pressured into helping with a complex money-laundering scheme involving diverted funds, shell companies, intelligence agents, and Russian gangsters. The promised payment is large, but failure could put his wife and son in danger. Pascual must work out who is directing the operation before he becomes its convenient scapegoat.

Blackchain begins with Pascual being located in Marseille by an American who knows enough about his past to cause trouble. The CIA needs another favor, this time involving ransom money for stolen government data. When the plan changes and a hacker’s life is at stake, Pascual has to decide where his sympathies lie while enemies close in from several directions.

The action travels through Mediterranean and European settings, including Barcelona, Marseille, Monaco, Athens, Istanbul, and Yemen. Those places are not simply stops on an itinerary. Each brings different rules, histories, and people who may have their own reasons for wanting Pascual to fail. He has skills, languages, and hard-earned instincts, but he is rarely sure who is using him.

These books are high-stakes spy thrillers with a personal core. Pascual is not trying to save the world because he wants a new mission. He is trying to keep his family safe, settle old debts, and make one decent choice in situations designed to punish decency.
