Series background & context

Ortega Mafia is a revenge series from the ground up. The Ortega brothers are not trying to build something new. They are trying to take back what should have been theirs, the family business stolen by a stepmother and her lover. That gives the books a harder edge right away because every romance is tangled up in a war for inheritance, control, and payback.

Each book pairs one of the brothers with a woman who was never meant to matter. The Enforcer throws Flora into Domenico Ortega's path when she runs from one nightmare into another. The Consigliere turns billionaire heiress Abigail Kensington into part of a calculated revenge plan. The Don pushes the series even darker, adding bloodier secrets and the sense that the obvious villain may not be the real one.

If you have read Club Mafia, this series feels like a natural next stop. The worlds talk to each other. Old families and past damage keep echoing, and the women caught in these books are often paying for somebody else's sins before they ever get a say.

The overall tone is gritty and tense. There are captivity elements, manipulation, family lies, and heroes who start from a place of using the heroine rather than protecting her. That makes the emotional turn, when it comes, feel hard won instead of automatic.

Nobody falls in love cleanly here.

If you want a darker mafia run with brothers at war, women used as leverage, and revenge that keeps mutating into something messier, Ortega Mafia is one of Andrews's sharpest spinoffs.
