Series background & context

The McIntyres is a sweet Western romance series about a family broken apart by violence and the adult siblings trying to find one another again. When raiders tear six young McIntyre children from their home, each is scattered across the West. Years later, the surviving family connection is fragile, incomplete, and worth risking everything to restore.

Cade McIntyre starts the search.

In Cade's Quest, Cade returns to the old family home after four years away and learns that one of his brothers may be connected to a notorious outlaw gang. He follows a clue to the whereabouts of an older sister and rides into a Texas town at the worst possible moment, just as a bank robbery puts a vigilante lawman on his trail. While hiding in the rugged backcountry, Cade meets a young Comanche woman who is fleeing an Indian boarding school. Both are hunted by the past, and their uneasy partnership becomes the beginning of a relationship neither planned.

The series uses the search for the McIntyre siblings as its ongoing engine. Every discovery offers hope, but it also exposes new risks. The family members have been shaped by very different lives since their separation, so reunion is not as simple as finding someone and riding home. Trust, grief, memory, and the fear of being left again all matter.

Summer's Heart follows Summer McIntyre in snowbound Texas in 1882. Summer is a nurse preparing to marry Sheriff Dan Bodine when a stranger arrives with a newborn and a claim that threatens everything she believes about him. The storm cuts off easy escape, and news that Summer's missing little brother may still be alive raises the stakes. The romance must survive doubt while the family search becomes more urgent.

In Jess's Reckoning, Jess McIntyre and newspaperwoman Abigail Farnsworth become trapped in the outlaw town of Diablo Springs. Abigail uses disguises to move unnoticed, while Jess has a personal reason to keep digging: the last of his missing siblings may be there. The book brings the family's long search toward a dangerous turning point.

This is a series about people who choose family again after it has been taken from them. The frontier is harsh, and the dangers are real, but the tone stays rooted in loyalty, healing, and the possibility of home. The romances are sweet, with suspense arising from false accusations, outlaws, severe weather, and the wider struggle to reunite the siblings.

Start with Cade's Quest. It introduces the family tragedy, the scattered siblings, and Cade's vow to bring them back together. Reading in order is especially worthwhile here because the continuing search is the emotional backbone of all three books.
