The Legend of Korra: Comics Books in Order

The Legend of Korra comics continue the story after the animated series ends. They are not retellings of the show. They pick up after Korra and Asami enter the Spirit World together, then bring them back to a Republic City still dealing with the damage and political fallout of the finale.

The first trilogy is Turf Wars. Korra and Asami are figuring out what their new relationship means while the city faces a fight over the spirit portal, housing, displaced residents, and organized crime. The series gives their relationship room to grow without separating it from the larger problems around them.

Republic City is a big part of the appeal. It is crowded, modern, ambitious, and full of people with competing plans for its future. A developer sees opportunity around the new portal. Residents need homes. Spirits have their own concerns. Politicians, triads, and Korra’s friends all bring different priorities to the table.

Korra cannot punch every problem away.

That is one of the ongoing tensions in these stories. She is still the Avatar, but the work often involves diplomacy, public trust, and knowing when to let other people lead. Asami, Mako, Bolin, Zhu Li, Tenzin, and the wider supporting cast all have meaningful roles in the changing city.

The second trilogy, Ruins of the Empire, shifts attention to the Earth Kingdom after the fall of Kuvira’s empire. An election is coming, but old imperial loyalties have not disappeared. Korra and her friends must decide whether Kuvira can be trusted to help prevent another takeover, even as the country tries to move toward democracy.

These comics have the same mix of action, humor, friendship, and emotional stakes that made the show work. They also move more directly into questions about rebuilding after conflict, making a relationship public, and deciding what justice should look like after a war.
