The Legacy of Dragons Books in Order

The Legacy of Dragons returns to Dematr after the events of The Pillars of Reality, but it is not just more of the same. This sequel trilogy shifts the focus to the next generation and asks what happens after heroes win. Mari and Alain changed their world, but change does not freeze in place once the banners come down. Old powers remember their losses. New technologies alter the balance again. And children of famous people have to figure out who they are under all that weight.

Kira carries most of that burden.

She is the daughter of Mari and Alain, which means she grows up in the shadow of two people who already feel half legendary to everyone around them. Hemry uses that pressure well. Kira is not simply following their footsteps. She is trying to become her own person while Dematr learns that its history is even bigger than it thought. A ship from Urth, the distant origin world, arrives and forces the people of Dematr to rethink where they fit in the human story.

That twist gives the trilogy a new flavor. The original series was about breaking guild control and surviving a world-level crisis. The Legacy of Dragons is about what comes next when outside contact, imperial revenge, lingering factionalism, and new weapons all converge. The older order may be gone, but that does not mean peace is secure. In some ways, it only means the next fight will be fought with more tools and higher stakes.

Kira is a strong lead for exactly that reason. She has courage and skill, but she also has to live with expectations, secrecy, and abilities that make her different even in her own family. Her relationship with Jason, a visitor from Urth, pulls the trilogy further into questions of identity, history, and what kind of future Dematr can actually handle.

This is still Dematr, so you still get the appealing blend of swords, rifles, politics, dragons, and technology held too tightly by the people who fear change. But the mood is more generational. The question is no longer whether the old world can be broken. It is whether the new one can survive.
