Series background & context

The Killer series follows women whose family lives hide work that is anything but ordinary. At the center of Kill Sleep Repeat is Charlotte Jones, a suburban wife and mother who has learned how to look perfectly normal while carrying out a second life as a contract killer.

Charlotte has rules, routines, and a system for keeping the two versions of herself apart. At home, she is a parent and partner. Away from home, she travels to find targets, complete jobs, and return before the people she loves ask too many questions. That balance has held for a long time, but a high-profile assignment brings attention she cannot control.

Her secret life starts pushing back.

The series gets much of its tension from that collision between domestic routine and professional violence. Charlotte knows how to plan a kill. What becomes harder is managing the emotional damage, the people drawn to her, and the possibility that someone has begun to see through her cover. The question is not only whether she can survive the next mission. It is whether the life she built can survive the truth.

Kill, Sleep, Repeat Volume II widens the story through Charlotte's daughter, Sophie Jones. At nineteen, Sophie has been trained to take over the family business and has grown up with her mother's lethal lessons as part of the family inheritance. A mission gone wrong forces Sophie to question what loyalty means when she is asked to do things she can no longer accept without hesitation.

Meanwhile, Charlotte faces danger of her own when a target stirs feelings that complicate her usual discipline. Mother and daughter are connected by blood, training, and years of shared secrets, but those ties are not as simple as either of them wants to believe. Old enemies and buried information begin to put pressure on both of them.

This is a dark, high-stakes thriller series with a mother-daughter core. It mixes contract killing, family secrets, pursuit, and messy emotional attachments. The books are best read in order, starting with Kill Sleep Repeat, because the second volume builds on Charlotte's hidden life and shows what it costs to pass that life on to someone else.

In this family, survival is a skill that has to be taught.
