Series background & context

The Golden Wolf trilogy takes a dark fairytale setup, adds Norse myth, and gives Shannon Mayer room to be weird in the best way. The heroine, Cin, escaped her wolf pack by letting them believe she died. For ten years, that freedom holds. Then her brother finds her, and the past drags her home.

The punishment is not what she expects.

A powerful witch’s curse cuts Cin off from her wolf and turns her into a golden retriever. That sounds funny, and sometimes it is, but the story uses the absurdity to sharpen the stakes. Cin is trapped in a body that makes everyone underestimate her just when the end of the world begins to press in.

Havoc, her mate, becomes part of the chaos, but this is not a simple rescue romance. Cin has to prove she is still strong when she cannot rely on the shape she knows. The trilogy brings in pack violence, family betrayal, enemies-to-lovers tension, Norse gods, fate, and a second curse that binds her life to the world’s survival.

Golden sets up the curse and the forced return. Glitter raises the pressure until everyone close to Cin becomes part of the danger. Gossamer pulls the story toward its final choice, where love, fate, and the darkness at the center of the plot collide.

Read these books in order. The trilogy is quick, connected, and built around Cin’s transformation from runaway survivor to someone who has to claim her place even when fate makes her wag her tail at the worst possible time.
