Series background & context
The Empire Chronicles continues the paranormal world introduced in the Crescent books, moving the action to New York City. It follows Casey, Toby, Jared, Vera, and a supernatural society full of wings, titles, old relationships, and political danger.
Soar begins with Casey during a year away from school. Working in a coffee shop is supposed to be temporary, but meeting Toby and Jared draws her into a hidden world she never planned to join. Soon she has to decide whom she can trust with her life and her heart.
Being a princess is not as easy as it sounds.
The series continues through Search, Stay, Savor, and Storm. Casey discovers more about her own identity, while Jared and Vera's volatile connection becomes important to the larger fight. Expect romance, supernatural politics, threats to the Society, and recurring characters from the connected Chronicles World. Start with Soar and read in order, since the relationships and threats carry directly forward.
