The Dirty Suburbs Books in Order

The Dirty Suburbs is one of Cassie Ann L Miller's foundational small town romance series, set in Illinois and built around the people who live close enough to know each other's business, history, and bad decisions. The title sounds a little cheeky, and the books are, but the series also does a nice job with second chances, everyday pressure, and the emotional mess that comes from seeing the same people over and over again.

The stories are standalones, so you can jump in almost anywhere, but the setting gets richer if you read in order. Dirty Neighbor starts with a classic hometown setup, Samantha and the boy next door who broke her heart before disappearing. Dirty Player adds fake fiance chaos, Dirty Stranger brings in a mysterious barista with a hidden life, and Dirty Favor turns a fake engagement into a very bad idea that starts looking suspiciously good. Later books move through shy roommate tension, farm life, money trouble, shaky marriages, and a holiday detour that gets far more romantic than planned.

The town may be small, but the feelings are not.

What keeps the series moving is how often it mixes flashy romance tropes with practical problems. People are worried about rent, work, divorce, pregnancy, failed plans, and whether they can trust someone who already hurt them once. The men often show up carrying secrets, guilt, or more power than the heroine first realizes. The women are usually trying to hold a real life together while desire keeps making that harder.

There is also a strong sense of neighborhood rhythm here. Lawns, coffee shops, family dinners, local businesses, and holiday visits all matter. These are romances where a front porch conversation can matter just as much as the big dramatic reveal, and where gossip can be both a problem and part of the fun.
