Series background & context

The Curvy Girl Club is a connected young adult romance series set around Emerson Academy. Each book follows a different teen as she navigates school, friendship, family expectations, and a relationship that initially seems out of reach.

The first story, Curvy Girls Can't Date Quarterbacks, introduces Rory and the club's big idea: plus-size girls deserve love stories too. From there, the series moves through romances involving a billionaire's son, a cowboy, a bad boy, a best friend, a soldier, a prince, a rock star, a surfer, and more. The titles are playful, but the characters' worries are real.

Emerson Academy is where everything overlaps. Students see one another in hallways, at games, on social media, and at school events. Old friends become supporting characters in later books, and former couples remain part of the community. Reading in order gives the clearest picture of those friendships, although the main romances are written to work on their own.

Confidence is the thread that holds the series together.

The heroines face body shaming, bullying, class differences, demanding parents, anxiety, health concerns, and the fear that they are too much or not enough. Their partners have problems of their own, including pressure from family, public attention, career plans, and mistakes they need to own. The books keep the tone hopeful, with kissing-on-page romance and emotionally direct conversations.

The series changes gears as it goes. Some entries are school-based rom-coms, while others bring in celebrity, royalty, military life, music, dance, and California beach settings. The Curvy Girl Club: All Grown Up checks in with several earlier characters as adults, adding a more reflective story about friendship and change.

At its heart, this is a series about friends who refuse to let one another disappear into the background. Start with Curvy Girls Can't Date Quarterbacks for the strongest introduction to Emerson Academy, then continue in publication order if you want to avoid relationship spoilers.
