Series background & context

The Civil War Brides series follows couples trying to hold on to love and faith while the United States is divided by war. Jenna Brandt sets these historical romances against military service, uncertain news from the front, damaged homes, and the hard work of rebuilding after loss.

The first stories introduce people whose futures have been interrupted by conflict. Engagements are delayed, families are separated, and men return carrying experiences they do not know how to explain. The women left at home have their own battles, including protecting family property and making difficult choices without the people they love.

War changes every promise.

The series keeps the focus on intimate stakes rather than battlefield detail alone. A couple must learn how to talk honestly after trauma, forgive what cannot be undone, and imagine a shared life when the world around them feels unstable.

The heroines are active participants in their own survival. They work, pray, care for others, and refuse to let hardship erase their hopes. The heroes face duty, guilt, captivity, injury, and the challenge of returning home.

These are clean, faith-centered historical romances with a serious backdrop, emotional healing, and a hopeful conclusion for each couple.
