The fourth book takes a slightly different path. Star Crossed, later republished as The Billionaire's Bodyguard, is more of a romantic suspense story. A.J. is a former cop turned bodyguard, Luke is a movie star whose success has made him a billionaire producer, and the danger around him is not abstract. That book keeps the series' interest in wealth and vulnerability, but it narrows the focus into a tighter, two-person romance.

Across the series, expect explicit scenes, emotional honesty, and characters who have to negotiate what they want instead of pretending everyone wants the same thing. Holly is interested in dominance and submission, voyeurism, jealousy, and three-person dynamics, but she keeps bringing the books back to kindness, communication, and chosen family. Even when people have private jets and designer toys, they still have to figure out how to be decent to each other.

If that mix appeals to you, read these in order. The emotional logic lands better that way, especially through the Mia, Jake, and Damien books. This is a sleek, grown-up series, but it is not icy. Under the glamour, it is really about people trying to build a life that feels honest.
