Series background & context
Thaumia, also known as the Jeremy Moon trilogy, is Brad Strickland's adult fantasy series about a man who is pulled out of his ordinary life and into a world where magic is real, dangerous, and governed by rules he does not yet understand.
The story begins with Moon Dreams. Jeremy Sebastian Moon is an Atlanta copywriter whose strange dreams turn out to be more than dreams. He becomes caught in a cross-dimensional exchange and lands in Thaumia, a place where learning the laws of magic may be his only route home.
The later books, Nul's Quest and Wizard's Mole, widen the story beyond Jeremy's first struggle to survive in an unfamiliar world. Thaumia has its own peoples, conflicts, magical traditions, and political pressures, so returning home is never just a matter of finding the right spell.
Jeremy is in over his head from the start.
The series has a more adult feel than Strickland's middle-grade work, but it keeps his interest in clear storytelling, imaginative settings, and characters who need to think through a problem rather than simply overpower it. The fantasy is built around displacement, adaptation, and the uncomfortable process of realizing that an old life may not be waiting unchanged.
Start with Moon Dreams. It introduces Jeremy and the basic rules of Thaumia. Continue with Nul's Quest and Wizard's Mole in order to follow the larger arc and the evolving magical world.
