Texas Brothers Books in Order

The Texas Brothers books are Jodi Thomas's early McLain westerns, stories built around brothers whose lives were bent out of shape by war, distance, and hard country. These novels move through post-Civil War Texas, where people are still carrying old loyalties, old grief, and old mistakes, even while trying to build something steadier.

The core of the series is the McLain family. In The Texan's Touch, Adam McLain, a Union doctor, is kidnapped to treat a wounded Confederate and meets Nicole, the woman hidden beneath the disguise. In To Kiss a Texan, Wes McLain comes home from war and rescues Allie, a woman so traumatized she can barely speak. In To Wed in Texas, widowed preacher Daniel McLain is forced to ask for help with his children and finds it in Karlee Whitworth.

From there the world widens. Twilight in Texas follows Wolf Hayward and Molly Donovan, lovers separated by war and identity. The Texan's Dream moves farther west and leans into the mystery of a ranch and the guarded man trying to hold it together. The books are connected by family ties and emotional tone, even when the focus shifts beyond the brothers themselves.

Thomas likes journeys in this series, wagon roads, train stations, remote ranches, rough towns, and the long distances between one life and another. The characters often meet at moments of deep vulnerability. Someone is in hiding, someone is grieving, someone needs work, someone has nowhere safe to go. The romance grows out of caretaking, stubbornness, and the hard fact that survival on the frontier usually takes more than one person.
