Series background & context

Tamarack Ridge Romances takes place in a small Montana town surrounded by mountains, forests, trails, and the outdoor work that keeps the community going. Jeanette Lewis uses the landscape as more than a pretty backdrop. Hiking, hunting, guiding, fishing, cabins, mills, and local businesses shape how the characters spend their days and what they want from home.

The series begins with Loving the Mountain Man. Ledger Price films outdoor adventures for his popular channel, raises his daughter Aubrey, and prefers the freedom of mountain life to another serious relationship. Brynn Ramsey has built a demanding real estate career in California, but panic attacks send her back to Tamarack Ridge for a break. Their reunion asks whether Brynn can choose a quieter, more rooted future without losing herself.

In Charming the Mountain Man, Brynn's brother Colton runs outdoor excursions through his family's outfitter business. He expects to guide a man named Lee on a solo elk hunt, only to meet Leigh Bonzell, a determined attorney from Georgia who wants to prove she can do what her outdoorsy brothers do. Their competition in the Sawtooth Mountains turns into a test of respect as much as skill.

The mountains bring out stubbornness in everybody.

Taming the Mountain Man moves toward a fake-dating setup. Jennica Waverly's long relationship ends just before a big family wedding, and she persuades reserved knife maker Jack Hale to act as her date. Jack works at a lumber mill and has been hurt before, while Jennica is worried that the future she pictured is slipping away. Their pretend arrangement gives both of them a reason to question old fears.

The fourth book, Kissing the Mountain Man, follows Kennedy Jones after a public humiliation sends her away from Seattle. A wrong turn brings her to the cabin of Clay Dresden, a solitary man who has no plans to entertain a stranger. The setup has a touch of comedy, but it stays rooted in recovery, privacy, and two people deciding whether unexpected company might become something more.

Every book features a new central couple, with crossover characters and a shared town tying them together. The romances are sweet and closed-door, with humor, family connections, and real-life worries such as parenting, anxiety, heartbreak, work demands, and reputation. The rugged heroes are not identical, either. One is a filming outdoorsman, one a guide, one a knife maker, and one a recluse.

Start with Loving the Mountain Man to meet the setting, the Ramsey family, Ledger, and Aubrey. The stories can be read independently, but the order makes the returning friendships and family links more enjoyable.
