Redeemer is the current entry under the Syndicate banner, and it reads like the opening door to a much larger hidden-world conspiracy.

The story centers on Abigail Lucia, a single mother whose life is already stretched thin before impossible danger arrives at her doorstep. Men begin hunting her young daughter Jessie and insisting the child is something evil. That alone gives the book its urgency. Walden starts from a domestic, almost everyday pressure point, money, parenting, survival, then rips it wide open into the supernatural.

Michael is the figure who changes everything.

He is ageless, polished, clearly powerful, and tied to an organization that knows far more than Abigail does. The Syndicate itself is part of the appeal. Even in one book, it carries the feel of a secret network working behind the scenes, with its own rules, debts, and morally gray bargains. Michael can protect Abigail, but his help is not simple, and the romance grows out of that tension.

This makes the book feel closer to a paranormal thriller than to some of Walden's more openly mythic series. The pace is driven by pursuit, secrecy, and the question of whom to trust. At the same time, it still has her usual interest in powerful, protective heroes and women who are pushed into a hidden reality and have to get strong very fast.

If the idea of a clandestine supernatural order appeals to you, Syndicate is the place to look. It combines maternal stakes, dangerous guardianship, and the promise of a larger mythology just beyond the edges of the first story.

It is a smaller shelf than The Kings or The Lost Angels, but the setup is strong. Readers who like their paranormal romance with secret organizations, looming conspiracies, and a touch of urban fantasy suspense should find a lot to like here.
